"To sit beside a Veteran in their final moments is to honor a lifetime of service with the simple, profound act of presence. In their solitude, we offer our companionship; in their silence, we offer our understanding."

LIST OF GOALS

Companionship
We strive to be a comforting presence for Veterans during their final hours, offering companionship that conveys dignity, respect, and empathy. By sitting with them, holding their hand, or simply being a calm, silent support, we ensure that no Veteran faces their last moments alone. Our volunteers dedicate themselves to honoring the life and service of each Veteran by providing a compassionate presence that eases their journey.
Volunteer Education
We believe that effective support starts with knowledge. Our goal is to provide in-depth training and education to our volunteers, covering topics like Veterans' rights, end-of-life ethics, and the unique challenges Veterans face in their final days. Through orientation sessions and ongoing guidance, we equip our volunteers with the tools to fulfill their roles with sensitivity, skill, and a deep understanding of their responsibilities.
Community Awareness

We want to bring the community together to support our Veterans by raising awareness of the NVDA program. Through outreach efforts and community events, we inform others about the importance of our mission and invite them to join us. By spreading the word, we hope to inspire more people to contribute their time and compassion, fostering a community that stands united in gratitude and respect for our Veterans.

Honor and Respect

We are committed to honoring each Veteran's legacy by ensuring their final moments are filled with respect and dignity. Our volunteers approach every vigil with a sense of reverence, understanding that their presence is a tribute to the sacrifices made by the Veteran. We believe that every life deserves to end with dignity, and we make it our mission to provide that for our nation’s heroes.

Collaborative Care
We aim to work seamlessly with healthcare staff, chaplains, and other professionals to provide holistic support to Veterans at the end of life. Our volunteers collaborate closely with nursing staff to monitor and report any changes, ensuring that each Veteran’s needs are met with timely, compassionate care. By integrating our efforts with the larger healthcare team, we create a network of support that prioritizes the well-being and comfort of each Veteran.
